Aaron Ramsey should stick to priorities - Arsene Wenger

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says midfielder Aaron Ramsey has to focus on getting his "priorities right".

It comes after criticism was directed at Ramsey following Arsenal's 3-3 Champions League draw with Anderlecht.

Last season the Welsh midfielder won plaudits as he scored 16 goals in all competitions for the Gunners.

But Wenger said: "It's not about goal-scoring. Goal-scoring is a consequence of playing well first so focus on playing well."

He added: "You have to keep your priorities right as a midfielder, defend well and attack well and give good goals to the other players."

Former Arsenal player Charlie Nicholas said Ramsey was too focused on playing "Hollywood football" after the draw in midweek.

The 23-year-old has started twice and made three substitute appearances since returning from a hamstring injury he sustained in Arsenal's 1-1 draw with Tottenham on 27 September.

Meanwhile Wenger criticised the role of the extra officials deployed behind the goals in Champions League games, after Anderlecht's Anthony Vanden Borre appeared to be offside when he scored the Belgian side's first goal.

"I don't know what they are doing the guys behind the line," Wenger said. "I don't know what they are paid for. I think they should buy a seat for them and give them a good book."
