Arsenal 3-0 Bournemouth: Alexis Sanchez told me he is focused - Arsene Wenger

Alexis Sanchez will "win the fans back quickly" after playing for Arsenal for the first time since almost joining Manchester City on transfer deadline day, says boss Arsene Wenger.

Arsenal had agreed a £60m deal with City for Sanchez, 28, but it was dependent on them signing Thomas Lemar, who decided to stay at Monaco.

Sanchez played the final 15 minutes of Arsenal's 3-0 win against Bournemouth.

He received a few jeers as he came on at the Emirates on Saturday.

Sanchez, who returned late back to Arsenal from international duty, was making his first home appearance this season after struggling with injury.

"Alexis Sanchez is very focused on the Premier League and the Europa League and he wants to do well," Wenger told BBC Sport.

"He is still a bit short physically. He will be quickly back to his best. He will win the fans back, and win them back very quickly."

    Bored of talking about Sanchez as must be many Arsenal fans. This game was better because Wenger played players in their correct positions. Lacazette and Kolasinac being on the subs bench against Liverpool was absurd and a baffling mistake by Wenger, and he knows it. Sanchez will leave Arsenal sooner or even sooner, and frankly as an AFC fan I couldn't give a stuff about him after that.

    I was there at the Emirates and yes, there were a few jeers. These were completely drowned out by the raucous "Alexis Sanches Baby!" song. I've never seen so much vocal support for one player. But you wouldn't think so reading this article.

    Most fans know we have nothing to gain by jeering him. Cheer him on and he'll hopefully get us some goals on his way out. Jeer him when he's in sky blue :)

    Apparently their defeat has to be put into context, whereas obviously for the team that actually won something last years, a big defeat is a crisis and the manager has to go.

    @5 Tuggy - Why does he have to win the fans back? Because he lost a game?

    Ridiculous that this story gets a comments section and the Chelsea racism story doesn't. Another sign of the media stirring the anti-Arsenal pot or is because we have more fans with broadband? Either way it's time to stay tight as a fans and support the club - just as we did in 1991

    What's the point talking on transactions that didn't get thru. Isn't this what we had hoped for, that Sanz and Ozil stays. That's what Arsene promised to do. He's even added Sead Kolasinac and Lacazette to the team. Add in whiz kid Reiss Nelson and got good returns (ROI) for the Ox and others, we are perfectly placed both in squad strength and financially capable to challenge for honours. COYGs.

    Wenger is a moron. I love Sanchez. He plays his heart out for the club every time. I understand why he wants to leave, because he's wasting his career under Wenger.

    I have no problem with Sanchez.

    The problem is the wally in charge of the team, and the American owner who's only interested in Arsenal as a profit-making business and nothing more.

    Arsene should play the same winning combination next game. Being out of the CL might be better for the team this year as they only seem to make it to the next round then out and they don't really have the players to compete in the finals anyway. Pleased Mustafi is still there.

    Yeah the Spuds will always be in our shadow, when we tear Chelsea a new one next week, we will overtake the Spuds and then target the premier title, this title has Arsenals name all over it, never mind the twin towers still burning when we last won the league hurry cane, we are setting this league on fire

    He has given his all and it's in his nature to continue in that vein.
    But football careers are short.
    So who can blame him for his aspirations to play in the Champions League?
    Could you imagine him playing alongside De Bruyne, Silva, Aguero and Jesus?
