Manchester United midfielder Marouane Fellaini is set to miss their Premier League game at Liverpool after picking up a knee injury playing for Belgium.

The 29-year-old went off after 29 minutes of a World Cup qualifying win over Bosnia-Herzegovina on Saturday.

In a post on social media, Belgium said Fellaini has had a scan and will be "out for a couple of weeks".

They face Cyprus in their final World Cup qualifier on Tuesday, while United travel to Anfield on 14 October.

The Old Trafford club then visit Benfica in the Champions League four days later before a trip to Huddersfield in the league on 21 October.

Fellaini has scored four goals for United this season, including two in a 4-0 win over Crystal Palace in their last game before the international break.

He looks set to join fellow United midfielder Paul Pogba, who is out with a hamstring injury, on the sidelines for his club.

Whilst Utd fans aren't too keen on him. His aerial threat against Liverpool would have exploited that vulnerability, so this is good news for Liverpool fans.

As a United fan, this is a massive blow. Aerial threat against a weak defence would have been a great way to pin Liverpool back. The closer it gets to the game the more unsure I am. A lot of people are confident, but Liverpool are no mugs, especially at Anfield. We'll be lucky to get 3 points. That being said, I hate Liverpool. C'mon United!

Disappointing news. He had a knock when he went on international duty yet was played in a meaningless game. I bet Jose will have something to say about that.....

The player has done extremely well to turn his fortunes at Old Trafford round. He will be a big miss with Pogba also out.

A shame as he has been in great form this season. Anyway, injuries happen and we have players to step up and do the job, so we get over it and hope he is back soon. Roll on Saturday. GGMU.

As a United fan may I distance the 99.99999% of decent United fans from the anti- Liverpool bile on here.

Banter good, bile bad. 'Hate' very, very bad.

Hopefully the 99.99999% of decent Liverpool fans will also distance themselves from their tiny minority of idiots.

This is why Pereira should have stayed rather than going out on loan - he would have been guaranteed game time either in this game or in the Champions League!

Having never played football you are made for management. You clearer have more insight into a player from your armchair than that of Martinez, Moyes, Everton FC, JM, Man U and the Belgium national set up.
