Bournemouth: Eddie Howe to assess forward injuries before considering buys
Last updated on .From the section Bournemouth
Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe will wait to learn the extent of an injury to Joshua King before entering the January transfer market.
Forward King missed the New Year's Day trip to Brighton with a hamstring problem picked up against Everton.
Winger Ryan Fraser also missed the 2-2 draw at the Amex with a tight hamstring to add to Howe's injury list.
"If we're confident we can get these players back quickly then I don't see the need," he told BBC Radio Solent.
Cherries striker Jermaine Defoe is also set to miss two months with a fractured right ankle sustained in the EFL Cup quarter-final at Chelsea last month.
"We need to see how serious these injuries are," Howe said. "We're not sure of the full extent for Joshua if he is out for the short or long term.
"Ryan felt some tightness after the win against Everton, he wasn't comfortable being involved today (against Brighton), so there was no point risking a really serious injury.
"He has had problems historically with his hamstrings."

Great to see a Premier club managed by an articulate Brit.
Ibe is improving & we didn't pay £15 million, Fraser a bargain @ £400,000. Lewis Cook another good buy @ £7 Million. Wilson £3 million, Josh King FREE, Adam Smith £1 million, Harry Arter £4000. Oh, a good few have been with us since League 1 days too.
The only problem with older players is they get injured more [fact] but to me it was a gamble worth taking !!
Obviously you don't ever listen to Howe? He's one of the few managers that doesn't blame everyone or anything or make excuses. We have got an injury problem though although once again, Howe is saying he's going to wait & see.
There's some dumb people who comment for sure
compared to 5-10 years ago, yes its a lot of money. but only stoke this year spent less than Bournemouth on transfers. and last year Bournemouth had the highest points per £ spent on transfers out of everyone in the league. which means we just never a quality coaching staff who improve what have.
fortunately we do
