Fabian Delph rejects Stoke City move, wants to earn playing time at Manchester City

Fabian Delph has been involved in speculation all summer. The midfielder hasn’t played much since arriving at Manchester City because of injuries and his minutes decreased even more with Pep Guardiola as the manager.

Delph is still a quality midfielder who can be a very good addition to any mid-table Premier League club, and two of those clubs tried to sign him: West Bromwich Albion had a £10 million bid rejected at the beginning of August, and Stoke City have been trying to sign him all summer.

Mark Hughes is a fan of Delph and wanted him to partner Darren Fletcher in midfield this season, and City had agreed to sell Delph to Stoke for about £13 million. There’s only one problem: Delph never wanted to join Stoke, and he has now completely rejected a move to the Potters, according to James Ducker of the Telegraph.

Ducker also says Delph wants to stay and fight for minutes at City despite being way down in the midfield pecking order. Stoke have moved on from Fabian and are looking elsewhere for additions, and we looks set for another season of Delph at City. He is a solid player, though, so this isn’t bad news.
