Manchester City were given a major boost in their chase for Jonny Evans thanks to a £23 million bid from Crystal Palace for Eliaquim Mangala that will give the Blues enough funds to sign the West Browmich Albion captain.

West Brom want Mangala as part of the Evans deal, but they will accept a £30 million bid regardless of whether or not they get a replacement in return. With the potential £23 million from Palace, they’ll need to add just £7 million to complete the deal, which makes the whole operation a lot easier for the Blues.

There’s only one HUGE problem: Mangala is not really interested in moving to Crystal Palace, according to David Anderson of the Mirror.

It’s clear City want to sell Mangala, but without his OK the deal with Palace can’t go through. Mangala has made it clear from the start that he only wants to join Inter Milan, but Inter only want to take the player on loan and City have made it clear they want to sell him.

From City’s perspective, the Crystal Palace business seems like a perfect opportunity, but they must convince Mangala first. That will clearly not be easy.
