Manchester City reached seven consecutive wins this season and took over the first place in their Champions League group with a 2-0 victory over Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday night. The Blues had a tough time in the first half but were the dominant side in the final period, and despite a lot of missed chances they scored enough goals to get the win and another clean sheet.

As always after every game here on Bitter and Blue, we invite you to rate the players’ performances and choose your Man of the Match, and once again you’ve voted a lot of times! Thanks so much for your participation!

Let’s now take a look at the result of your votes:

Man of the Match: Kevin De Bruyne (44%)

This is maybe the closest Man of the Match vote we’ve had in a while, and De Bruyne won with a really tight margin over Fernandinho, the second player with the most votes. But the Belgian deserves the MOTM award thanks to his incredible first goal and his contribution throughout the second half when City began to dominate the game. Fernandinho was crucial to keeping the clean sheet, but De Bruyne had more of an impact on the win.
