Despite La Liga complaint, UEFA will not investigate Manchester City for Financial Fair Play breach

Manchester City and the words Financial Fair Play have always been bandied around by clubs in Europe and England. This time it was La Liga who presented an official complaint to UEFA to investigate both Manchester City and Paris Saint Germain for breaches in FFP.

After a report came out UEFA were indeed investigating PSG, a spokesperson came out to confirm what many City officials were already confident of:

"There is no investigation into Manchester City with regards to Financial Fair Play regulations. Any reports mentioning such an investigation are unsubstantiated."

Manchester City officials were said to be confident the club hadn't breached any FFP regulations, even if the club had signed Alexis Sánchez on Deadline Day.

The complaint mainly stems from the PSG signing of Neymar from Barcelona and the question of where the money to sign him came from. It appears this complaint is La Liga’s attempt to save face after seeing one of the best players in the world leave their league.

Because of the money Manchester City tend to spend each summer, there will always be people claiming the club is not following FFP rules. The fact is Man City are very profitable and FFP regulations are set by a club’s profit numbers, meaning as long as City continue increasing their profits they can continue spending big money every summer.
