The international break sucks as it is, but when you have to wait two weeks for what promises to be one of the best Premier League games of the season, it’s even worse. But the wait is over, and the Etihad Stadium will welcome two of the most entertaining teams in Europe for a truly amazing match.

Manchester City and Liverpool will clash on Saturday’s lunchtime kickoff, which is good news for both as they have Champions League matches to play on Wednesday. Pep Guardiola and Jürgen Klopp are good friends and great rivals, and their matches have been fantastic since their time in Germany. Both games between them last season were great as well, and we’ll likely see more of the same this weekend.

Blues and Reds will be looking to use each other to make a statement of intent: both teams have been tipped to fight for the Premier League title this season, and a win in this fixture will be a major boost in their trophy hunt. City haven’t beaten Liverpool in their last five league encounters, so this is also an opportunity to show they can win the big games.

City will have be slight favorites playing at home, but literally anything can happen. One thing we do know is: these 90 minutes cannot be missed.

TEAM NEWS

Captain Vincent Kompany suffered another calf injury and has been ruled out of this Saturday’s match, so John Stones and Nicolas Otamendi will have the responsibility of keeping the defense safe against one of the most dangerous attacks in the Premier League. Because of Kompany’s absence, Pep will most definitely start Fernandinho as the shield to the backline as the defensive midfielder, but the rest of the team will be designed to attack, attack and attack some more.

Kyle Walker, Benjamin Mendy, Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva, Leroy Sané (or Bernardo Silva), Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Agüero will all start to give a suspect Liverpool defense loads of problems both in the middle and the flanks. The absence of in-form Raheem Sterling will be a problem, but there’s enough attacking talent in the squad to give City a winning chance.

POSSIBLE LINEUPS

Manchester City (4-3-3)
