Tottenham’s academy slipped to a 4-3 loss in the Abomination Trophy last night against AFC Wimbledon, with former Spurs man Dean Parrett getting on the scoresheet for the Wombles. Revenge at last!

Style icon and formerly half-decent footy player David Ginola has suggested, in typical contrarian style, that Spurs would become the best team in world if they could somehow convince Real Madrid to let go of Gareth Bale and Luka Modric. As incredible as this scenario would be, I think I’d be equally overjoyed if Ginola himself decided to come out of retirement and line up for us for one more season tee bee aytch.

Elsewhere in football...

Former Spurs and current Hull City midfielder Ryan Mason has given his public thanks to Petr Cech for supporting him through the period of rehab he underwent after fracturing his skull in a game against Chelsea eight months ago. Just a straightforward feelgood story, this one.

And another- 16 year-old Genoa wonderkid Pietro Pellegri is already breaking records in Serie A and he’s doing it all under the tutelage of his father Marco, the team’s administrator.
