Leicester City reject offer from Tottenham for Demarai Gray

The Foxes are apparently offering him a new, improved deal.

Chalk another one up to “tried and failed.” Reports in the Mirror today that Leicester City have rejected a bid today from Tottenham Hotspur for their young midfielder Demarai Gray.

The Foxes turned down an offer from Bournemouth that was reportedly up to £30m. Spurs’ bid wasn’t revealed, but one would guess that it was somewhere in that ballpark as well. Leicester have now offered a new contract to the 21-year old Gray to keep him with the 2015-16 Premier League champions for a few more years.

Gray is just 21 years old and has pretty good potential, and can play on both flanks but he’s pretty underwhelming and would be another “for the future” signing for Spurs. Basically Georges-Kevin N’Koudou Mk. II, if you get my meaning. He could be good! But there isn’t a whole lot here to say that he’s worth potentially £30m.

Gray has been linked with Spurs since the beginning of the month after reports that he was unhappy with his role at Leicester, but there didn’t seem to be a lot of smoke behind that particular rumor. It’s also not known whether Spurs might go back in for him before the transfer window closes tomorrow night.

26 hours to go!
