Tottenham Hotspur to make bid for Everton’s Ross Barkley

This still, somehow, appears to be a thing.

For just a moment there we thought the rumors linking Tottenham Hotspur to Ross Barkley were starting to cool down a bit.

WELP.

We do not know yet what that bid is, whether one has formally been made, or what it means going forward. What we do know is that Chelsea apparently made a £25m bid for Barkley earlier in the day, and that also Arsenal are apparently watching the situation, ready to swoop in if they see an opportunity.

So, let’s take stock in the situation. Tottenham Hotspur are apparently set to make a not-insignificant bid for a player that has underachieved at Everton, is unwanted by his manager, has a contract that expires at the end of the 2018-18 season, and has a hamstring injury that rules him out until at least December. Essentially, should Spurs be successful in this transfer they will be paying actual money for possibly five months or less of match time for a player who they could maybe get for free at the end of the season.

Daniel, seriously. Why?
