Outrageous! Arsene Wenger Does NOT Name Thierry Henry As Best Arsenal Signing

Posted by

Really!?

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was recently asked who his best signing has been to date.

Most people expected him to name Thierry Henry – Arsenal’s all-time record goalscorer, who was recruited from Juventus for £10.5m in August 1999.

But no… Wenger, who was rather reluctant to give a definitive answer, proceeded to laud Cameroonian defender Lauren.

“I’d never say which player was the best, but I think it’s the signings like Lauren who you spot when nobody else does,” Wenger told Huawei.

“He was a right midfielder who I played at right back and was one of the Invincibles.”

He helped Arsenal win two Premier Leagues, three FA Cups and two Community Shields, before winning the 2008 FA Cup with Portsmouth.

Lauren retired in 2010.
