The 15-year-old has been fast-tracked to the Hammers’ Under-21s side despite his age and impressed in his latest outing against Sunderland on Monday – a game that scouts from the Emirates Stadium were watching.

Oxford is developing nicely in East London and also captained the England Under-17s side at this summer’s Nordic Under-17 tournament in Denmark.

The teenager plays as a centre-back currently and West Ham are understandably keen to hold onto one of their most promising talents and have offered him a bumper contract to try and ensure that.

Arsene Wenger has previous when it comes to acquiring talent from West Ham, with another youngster Ben Sheaf being snapped up in recent times.
