According to The Sun, the England international was initially ruled out for three weeks after injuring his hamstring in the victory over Manchester United last month. Their 2-1 win in the FA Cup quarter-final set up a semi-final meeting with Reading next weekend.

Chamberlain has now picked up a groin injury and is set for a longer spell on the sidelines. The former Southampton man has played 35 goals in all competitions so far this season, scoring three goals.

The Gunners moved to within seven points of league leaders Chelsea with a 4-1 win over Liverpool last weekend and with the Blues still to come to the Emirates, the club’s supporters are dreaming of an incredible end to the season

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger told reporters: “He now has a groin inflammation related to everything before.

“I hope it’s not long-term but he’s not available for the semi-final and is out for at least two weeks. He has a hurdle this week in training and next week we will know if he has recovered well.”
