Arsene Wenger has confirmed that striker Danny Welbeck has returned to full fitness for the first time since a knee injury ruled out since last April, the Metro reports.
The Gunners boss told reporters that the England international took part in an under-21 game this week, but also confessed that he is still lacking in match practice.
“He’s done quite well, I think he’s very close,” Wenger said. “Fitness-wise he’s there, it’s just sharpness he needs.”
However, Wenger didn’t have such good news on the status of midfielders Santi Cazorla and Jack Wilshere, who are still a little way off a return to action and confirmed they could still be out for over a month.
“I don’t count on Cazorla and Wilshere in the next three or four weeks,” he added.
