Arsenal dealt defining blow in pursuit of 21-year-old winger, club put block on move after confirming they aren’t willing to sell

Thomas Lemar’s move to Arsenal will not be going through this summer, after Gunners boss Arsene Wenger confirmed that the French side aren’t willing to sell the winger due to the amount of players that have already left the club this summer, according to the Sun.

Arsenal manager Wenger confirmed the club would not be signing Lemar when he said that a deal for the player is “dead because Monaco don’t  want to sell. Kylian Mbappe, Fabinho… they have lost already Benjamin Mendy, Bernardo Silva, Tiemoue Bakayoko. So Monaco is at a stage where they have closed the door.”

As reported by the Sun, this news from Wenger will come as a big disappointment to Arsenal fans and the club, as the north London side would’ve liked to see Lemar team up with current Gunners stalwart Alexis Sanchez as they push for the title this season, report the Sun.

As written by the Sun, Lemar would’ve helped add the killer instinct to Wenger’s Arsenal side, which was something the Gunners clearly lacked in their recent 1-0 away defeat to fellow Premier League side Stoke.

With this news, it’s going to be interesting to see who the Gunners turn their attentions to now, as Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his squad before the transfer window shuts next week.
