Tottenham set for small windfall, £15m misfit to secure move to PL rivals

Tottenham are reportedly set to offload defender Kevin Wimmer as a £15m deal has been agreed with Stoke City to sign him this week.

The 24-year-old has struggled to establish himself at Tottenham since his arrival from FC Koln in 2015, making only 15 Premier League appearances.

In turn, it was always likely that if the right offer arrived that he would be sold, and according to Sky Sports, that seems to be the case now as Stoke have had a £15m bid accepted, and Wimmer will likely undergo a medical with the Potters in the coming days.

The Austrian international would of course have been aware that the signing of Davinson Sanchez would have made life even more difficult for him in terms of breaking into Mauricio Pochettino’s plans as he dropped further down the pecking order, and so an exit seems to be the most sensible solution for all parties.

Tottenham have experienced an indifferent start to the campaign as they now head into the international break, and Pochettino has made no secret of his desire to remain active in the final few days of the transfer window.

It remains to be seen who else he is able to bring in, but it looks as though there could be a little boost for the budget as Wimmer prepares to move on from an overall disappointing and underwhelming spell with Spurs.
