Arsenal braced for club-record £70M bid from Premier League rival for 72-goal forward, player believed to be eager to move

Manchester City are set to test Arsenal’s resolve one last time as they line up a £70M bid for Chilean star Alexis Sanchez, a move that would be a club-record for the Citizens should it go through, according to the Independent.

The longest transfer saga of the summer is set to go on for just a bit longer as City line up one last big-money bid for Sanchez, with Pep Guardiola’s side set to face difficulties in securing a deal for the player due to Chile’s World Cup qualifier against Paraguay tonight, a game the Arsenal winger is set to star in as per the Independent.

Arsenal remain highly reluctant to sell Sanchez, who has scored 72 goals in 145 games during his Gunners career, however City sources believe that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger’s position on Sanchez’s future has been softened as reported by the Independent, with the Frenchman now more open to doing business for the Chilean.

City have already had a bid of £50M for Sanchez turned down by the north London side, and despite the Gunners wanting a player plus cash deal for the 28-year-old forward, City are set to offer cash only as they look to sign one of the Premier League’s best players, report the Independent.

Should City prevail in their pursuit of Sanchez, it’ll definitely be worth keeping an eye on who the Gunners go for as a replacement for the South American star.
