Arsenal ace targeted, causes split in Euro giants dressing room over January raid

A number of Real Madrid stars are reportedly not keen on the idea of a January move for Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez.

The reigning Spanish and European champions are seemingly always considering their options to further strengthen Zinedine Zidane’s side, but it’s claimed that their latest transfer target hasn’t convinced all.

According to Don Balon, as re-reported by The Daily Star, Sergio Ramos leads a group of first-team players who are against the arrival of Sanchez in January.

It’s suggested that he doesn’t want to see a former Barcelona player arrive at the club, while Karim Benzema remains a popular figure within the group and so his position in the side would be under significant threat if Sanchez were to join.

Despite their reservations though, the report goes on to add that president Florentino Perez is ready to push ahead with his plans regardless, with a January move being touted.

Real will hope to snap up the talismanic Chilean international in a cut-price deal though given that he’ll have just six months remaining on his Arsenal contract at that point.

Sanchez could agree a deal to join next summer on a free transfer, but naturally, Arsenal will hope to be aware of that desire and could therefore be forced to sell and make some money rather than lose him for nothing next summer.

Real Madrid certainly won’t be the only club interested with Manchester City heavily linked on deadline-day last month, and so Arsenal may well have a serious transfer headache on their hands when the window opens in the new year.
