Manchester United will launch huge £52m bid for South American talent in January as £89m star faces at least six weeks out

Manchester United will offer £52m in January for impressive Monaco full-back Fabinho.

Calciomercato say that despite the failure to capture him during the summer, Jose Mourinho will launch a £52m bid in an attempt to bring the Brazilian to Old Trafford.

However, the Mirror report both PSG and Juventus are interested but if the former team decide to make Kylian Mbappe’s transfer from Monaco permanent in the new year, Financial Fair Play could prevent the right-back from being bought.

Meanwhile, the paper say that Paul Pogba is set to be sidelined for at least six weeks following a hamstring injury he picked up during the club’s 2-0 Champions League win over Basel.

The Frenchman joined the Red Devil’s in August 2016 for a then world-record fee of £89m, per the Telegraph.

United sit second in the Premier League, behind cross-city rivals Manchester City on goal difference, after beating Southampton 1-0 on Saturday.

Despite Antonio Valencia’s tremendous start to the season, Mourinho has little full-back options to choose from and so signing 23-year-old Fabinho – who can also play in a defensive midfield role – would undoubtedly bolster this area and thus the strength of the overall squad.
