Chelsea player ratings vs Watford: Super-sub rescues CFC, 4/10 duo flop

Chelsea secured a 4-2 win over Watford at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, but it was far from straight-forward for Antonio Conte’s men.

After Pedro had given the hosts the lead, they fell behind to goals from Abdoulaye Doucoure and Roberto Pereyra, only for substitute Michy Batshuayi to bag a brace while Cesar Azpilicueta also got on the scoresheet to turn things around.

Watford will be hugely disappointed to come away with nothing to show for their efforts as they played great football at times and had their chances, namely Richarlison who missed two glorious opportunities to give them a commanding lead.

Those misses proved to be costly in the end as Chelsea fought their way back into the game and launched a comeback, with Conte undoubtedly breathing a huge sigh of relief after this win.

Having lost their previous two Premier League outings, a third could have been a disaster for the Italian tactician. While they didn’t convince, it’s enough for now to surely alleviate some of the pressure that was building.

Batshuayi unsurprisingly gets our Man of the Match award for his hugely influential display off the bench, while Willian was also key in his cameo appearance.

Pedro scored and bagged an important assist for Azpilicueta’s goal so also gets a 7/10, but in contrast, it was an afternoon to forget for both Gary Cahill and Marcos Alonso who were bitterly disappointing both in terms of their defending an overall impact on the game, or lack of.

However, the win and three points will be all that matters to Conte, as he will hope that this battling performance fires his side up moving forward.
