Could Arsenal snap him up in January?

Arsenal’s pursuit for 21-year-old AC Milan wonderkid Andre Silva is set to become a battle with Barcelona now also interested in the Portuguese star.

The Sun have reported that Arsenal’s pursuit will no longer be straightforward with the Catalan giants set to enter the race to sign the talented attacker who signed for Milan just this summer from Porto for a fee of £33m.

Silva could depart the Italian club by January with Milan struggling to fund all of their summer acquisitions. The attacker would be sold as a consequence for their financial woes.

While a choice between Barcelona and Arsenal may appear to be a no-brainer to many, Arsenal could still hold a significant advantage over Barca in the two clubs’ pursuit of the star.

Arsenal transfer news

ESPN reported just this month that both Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil could leave North London in January. This subsequently would allow any attacking talent in the squad to be given far more playing time and opportunities if the Gunners’ two biggest stars were to depart.

With Silva being just 21 years old you would have to imagine that his priority would be playing time to allow him to develop. Therefore, a deal with Arsenal would make far more sense for the youngster than a move to the Nou Camp where he is likely to spend the majority of his time on the bench.

The star has yet to register a goal in the Italian League but has been prolific in the Europa League scoring four goals in his last three group stage appearances for Milan.
