Huge boost for Man Utd, crucial Tottenham injury absence confirmed

Man Utd host Tottenham in the early kick-off on Saturday, and the visitors will be without their most important player at Old Trafford.

Spurs have been in fine form in recent weeks, and a major reason for that has been the form of striker Harry Kane who has 13 goals in 12 appearances so far this season.

However, the 24-year-old sustained a hamstring injury in the win over Liverpool on Sunday and was replaced in the closing stages at Wembley, and in turn, Pochettino has confirmed that he will not be risked against United.

“We cannot take a risk for tomorrow, we’ll see after for Wednesday. But tomorrow, it is impossible,” Pochettino told the media at his press conference on Friday, as reported by Sky Sports.

It’s a sensible move from Tottenham, as ultimately while they will be bitterly disappointed to be without Kane for this important trip to Manchester, they can’t afford to risk losing him for a significant period of time by rushing him into action and risk aggravating the injury.

In turn, it’s undoubtedly the right decision from Pochettino and the medical staff, but it will be a huge boost for Man Utd and Mourinho to not have to deal with the in-form England international.

Having slipped up against Huddersfield last weekend, the last thing that the Red Devils would have needed was to risk falling short against Spurs too.

Kane’s absence by no means is a suggestion that this will be an easy task for them now though, as the visitors still have quality throughout the team with the likes of Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and others now expected to step up and so United can still expect a tough afternoon as Tottenham have proven previously that they can cope without their leading goalscorer.
