Could this help United in their pursuit?

Manchester United may have been handed a potential transfer boost as Real Madrid’s move for one of their top targets just took a fresh twist.

According to Don Balon, while Antoine Griezmann remains open to leaving Atletico Madrid for a move to their inner-city rivals in the summer, he is requesting one of their ‘BBC’ front three is sold first.

According to ESPN, United are looking into moving for the France international next summer as they look into strengthening their own attack again next year.

And while it is not yet clear who United will prioritise as the Sun claim they’re also keen on Tottenham striker Harry Kane, this Griezmann development could attract Jose Mourinho’s attention.

Without the same depth of attacking quality in his squad, Mourinho would surely be able to assure Griezmann more easily that he’d be guaranteed a starting spot week in, week out were he to move to Old Trafford.

Don Balon report that Griezmann’s preference remains to move to Barcelona, though he has given an indication of what Real could do if they want to tempt him over to the Bernabeu.

The report mentions Gareth Bale as the most likely player to make way, following reports from elsewhere that this could be the Welshman’s final season in Spain.

Just earlier today Diario Gol claimed Bale had already accepted a decision to move back to Tottenham next season, though it remains to be seen how far along negotiations for this to happen are.

Either way, Real will need to make a big sacrifice if they are to bring in Griezmann, though this looks a gamble worth taking after his tremendous form in La Liga down the years.

With 86 goals in 170 games for Atletico, it’s little surprise to see so many big clubs linked with Griezmann’s signature ahead of next summer.
