“And he calls himself the Special One” – BBC pundit blasts Jose Mourinho for key Man Utd snub

It seems Garth Crooks isn’t too impressed with Man Utd boss Jose Mourinho as he had a dig at him in his discussion over the Premier League team of the week.

In reference to United’s 1-0 win over Tottenham at Old Trafford on Saturday, it appears as though the BBC pundit took exception to the fact that he didn’t get to see Romelu Lukaku, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial on the pitch together in an attacking trident.

Crooks evidently just wants to see the trio more often but decided to blast Mourinho at the same time, and he might want to do his research next time as these three have started 11 games together and in the five Premier League games of those 11, United have drawn four and lost one.

“I have to add, why playing Rashford, Martial and Lukaku in a three-man attack at Old Trafford should frighten Mourinho is a mystery to me. And he calls himself the ‘Special One’,” he wrote in his BBC Sport team of the week column.

Mourinho has his critics and he’s certainly been in the firing line in recent weeks following his side’s dire performance against Liverpool at Anfield which was followed by a disappointing defeat at Huddersfield Town.

However, hearing Crooks question his tactical sense and decision-making didn’t go down too well with Man Utd fans, or just football fans in general, as the pundit usually gets an earful every week when he offers him his latest serving of the team of the week and this was no different judging from the Twitter comments.

Antonio Valencia was the only United player to get the nod from him this time round, and perhaps it will take an attacking trident of Lukaku, Rashford and Martial to get his seal of approval moving forward.
