Chelsea could do with snapping up this Bundesliga star.

Chelsea are reportedly anxious about the future of one of their star players, forcing them to enter into a potential transfer battle with rivals Arsenal.

The Premier League champions have been linked with an interest in RB Leipzig goalkeeper Peter Gulacsi amid Real Madrid’s apparent pursuit of Thibaut Courtois.

According to ESPN, Chelsea and Arsenal have been watching the 27-year-old in action lately, though it remains to be seen if either club are in the driving seat for his signature at the moment.

Although Courtois has a contract with Chelsea until 2019, there seems to be some growing concern that he is yet to pen a new deal as Madrid show an interest in luring him to the Bernabeu.

Gulacsi could be a decent replacement for Courtois, though Chelsea will surely do all they can to ensure they keep the Belgian at Stamford Bridge for the long term.

Courtois, 25, has been superb since he rejoined the Blues from a three-year loan from Atletico Madrid to become the club’s number one in 2014/15, but his agent hinted at a possible move back to the Spanish capital in the future when asked about it in the summer.

‘I meet regularly with Real Madrid’s directors and Thibaut’s situation is evaluated. My role is to keep him informed of the situation,’ his agent Christophe Henrotay told Sport Magazine in June.

Real’s search for a new goalkeeper is well-documented, with Keylor Navas not the big name they are used to deploying in nearly every position at the Bernabeu.

The Costa Rican has been recently linked with Liverpool by Diario Gol while Don Balon also continue to link Manchester United ‘keeper David de Gea as a potential target to replace him.
