‘Fellaini just missed out on Ballon d’Or’ – bizarre comments from this world-class football manager

A well-renown football manager has sparked hysteria from football fans across the world with his bizarre comments regarding Marouane Fellaini.

Football365 have cited an exclusive interview the Belgian boss Roberto Martinez gave So Foot in which he mentioned that Fellaini was one of a few national stars who narrowly missed out on a nomination for this year’s Ballon d’Or.

When talking about the prestigious awards ceremony that takes place once a year, Martinez stated: “And two or three players who maybe just about missed out on a nomination, like Thibaut Courtois and Marouane Fellaini.”

We promise we’re not making this up. The fact Roberto Martinez believes the Manchester United star should be mentioned in the same breath as the likes of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo is enough to signal that he is out of his depth with the managerial job for the Belgian side already, surely?

We’re not completely against managers having some extra confidence in their players but this really does take it to the extreme. While Fellaini has started to establish himself as a key part of United’s squad under Jose Mourinho, the claims are quite hysterical considering the midfielder has spent the last four years as the main scapegoat to all of the Red Devils’ problems.

In terms of what Fellaini has been doing while currently sidelined with his latest injury. The Sun recently reported that the star was spotted in Istanbul which has sparked numerous rumors that the midfielder could be on the verge of completing a deal away from Old Trafford.

However, one thing that is for sure is that we are unlikely to see Fellaini on stage at the Ballon d’Or awards ceremony anytime soon.
