Chelsea team news: Conte set for major boost ahead of Man Utd clash

Chelsea host Manchester United at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, and they could reportedly be set for great news on the injury front.

The Blues remain under pressure to get a result, as despite winning three of their last five games in all competitions, much continues to be said about Antonio Conte’s future, with Marca reporting earlier this week that Roman Abramovich is ready to sack him.

In turn, there’s a lot riding on the meeting with Jose Mourinho’s side, and so Conte will be delighted with the news that midfielder N’Golo Kante could be available for selection, as per The Times.

The French international has missed six games after suffering a hamstring injury while on international duty last month, and his energy, defensive coverage and overall influence has been missed in the middle by Chelsea.

As a result, having him back in the side will be a major boost for the reigning Premier League champions, as he has been an obvious key absence for them in recent weeks with the other options at Conte’s disposal not capable of carrying out the same role as effectively.

Chelsea sit in fourth place ahead of kick-off, with a nine-point gap to close on leaders Manchester City as they will refuse to give up the chase to defend their crown so early in the campaign.

However, a positive result is surely needed given the speculation that has been surfacing again this week as noted above, and they’ll undoubtedly have a better chance of securing one with Kante involved as they hope to give everyone connected to the club a lift ahead of the international break.
