‘It’s complicated’ – Chelsea star makes worrying statement amid growing transfer speculation

Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata has admitted he wasn’t actively looking to leave Real Madrid in the summer transfer window and that he’d be open to rejoining them in the future.

The Spain international rose through Real’s youth system before becoming a valuable squad player for the club, though this was not a role he was content to carry on filling.

Morata moved to Chelsea in the summer and has now explained his feelings on his departure, which could be cause for concern for some Blues supporters.

‘I told the coach I wanted to play more, to say that I wanted to go is nonsense,’ Morata told Cadena SER, as translated by the Metro.

‘The critics do not affect me. Of course, I would return to Real Madrid, but it’s complicated.’

This follows reports from Sport Witness that PSG have made an approach for Morata to replace Edinson Cavani ahead of the January transfer window.

Morata has not helped dampen speculation with some earlier quotes to Gazzetta dello Sport that he isn’t entirely happy with where he’s living in London.
