Arsenal could receive a boost to their transfer plans as rumoured Gunners target Karim Benzema is reportedly ready to force his way out of Real Madrid if Cristiano Ronaldo ends up leaving.

AS have recently claimed that Ronaldo is unhappy at the Bernabeu and possibly set to leave at the end of the season, and Don Balon claim Benzema would look to follow him in moving on were that to happen.

The Frenchman has been linked with Arsenal again in recent times, with Don Balon claiming an approach has already been made by the Gunners.

Despite not looking at his best for Real this season, Benzema has proven himself at the top level for much of the last decade and could be ideal to Arsenal’s current needs.

Alexis Sanchez is in the final year of his contract at the Emirates Stadium, and would need replacing up front were he to move on.

Meanwhile, neither Alexandre Lacazette nor Olivier Giroud seem to have fully won over Arsene Wenger, with the latter yet to start a Premier League game this season and the former being left out in matches against the big sides despite joining for what BBC Sport called a club-record fee this summer.

Benzema looks ideal to fit into Wenger’s style of play at Arsenal after years of superb goalscoring and link-up displays at Real Madrid, where he has struck up a fine partnership with players like Ronaldo and played a key role in winning a number of major honours.
