Pep Guardiola aims cheeky dig at rival PL boss after swipe at Man City star

It’s fair to say that Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger wasn’t impressed with Raheem Sterling earlier this month, but Pep Guardiola has risked antagonising the situation again.

As reported by The Guardian, the veteran tactician made his comments after Arsenal’s 3-1 defeat to City at the start of the month, as he was left frustrated and angry with two big calls in the game that went against his side.

Having specifically targeted Sterling for diving to win a penalty, much to the surprise of many, Guardiola responded after the game as per the report, but he’s waited until after his side’s win over Huddersfield Town this past weekend to revisit the war of words by having a direct dig at Wenger.

Sterling was back in the thick of the action in the 2-1 win to keep City’s impressive start to the season going, as the England international won a penalty before scoring the winning goal in a decisive performance.

When asked after the game for his view on the penalty decision, Guardiola seemingly couldn’t help himself and decided to get Wenger involved in the conversation.

“Two clear penalties. Maybe Arsene will say that is [a] penalty,” he told the reporter, as noted by the Metro.

It’s a good time to be Guardiola right now, as he’s guided his side to 12 wins in 13 Premier League games, as they maintained their eight-point lead over their nearest rivals. Maybe he can afford to have a pop at rival managers to keep it interesting…
