Arsenal contact Champions League giants over transfer of classy midfielder, his manager doesn’t rate him

Arsenal have reportedly made contact with Real Madrid over the possible transfer of out-of-favour midfielder Dani Ceballos, who is not wanted at the club by manager Zinedine Zidane.

The 21-year-old only joined Real this summer but has barely featured in their first-team yet, with Diario Gol making the surprise claim that Zidane never really wanted him in the first place.

The report now claims Ceballos has five offers to quit the Bernabeu, with Arsenal listed as one of the clubs to have approached Los Blancos about a possible deal.

Tottenham, AC Milan, Roma and Ceballos’ former club Real Betis are also mentioned as potential suitors by Diario Gol, though Arsenal arguably look most in need of a new signing in midfield right now.

Granit Xhaka and Aaron Ramsey have largely been first choice in that area this season, with Santi Cazorla a long-term injury doubt and precious little in the way of alternatives.

Jack Wilshere is heading towards the end of his contract and hasn’t been given much of a look-in by Arsene Wenger this term, so Ceballos could be a useful addition.

Elsewhere today, the Sun are linking Arsenal with Sevilla star Steven N’Zonzi, so a new midfielder could be high up on the agenda for the Gunners.
