Man City star’s classy response to Paul Pogba after tasteless comments from Man Utd ace

If Paul Pogba wasn’t already feeling bad enough, the Man Utd ace continues to be a talking point as Man City ace Kevin de Bruyne has had his say.

The Frenchman will miss the highly-anticipated Manchester derby this weekend after receiving a red card against Arsenal, but it was comments he made earlier over the weekend that caused a stir.

In an interview with BBC Sport, as seen in the tweet below, Pogba suggested that he hoped some key Man City players picked up injuries to give United a better chance of catching them in the Premier League title race, although you can tell he was hesitant in admitting it.

Nevertheless, he still said it and unsurprisingly he’s received a negative reaction having now been ruled out of the showdown this weekend himself.

However, credit to De Bruyne for his response, as it’s a classy way to deal with the comments and it’s difficult to disagree with him.

What Pogba arguably should have wished for was for Man Utd to not suffer anymore injuries, so that the best could go against the best and ultimately the better team would come out on top. That’s the sentiment shared by De Bruyne, as the Man City star will look to play a crucial role at Old Trafford on Sunday.

“Everyone has their right to their opinion. I don’t want anyone to get injured. It’s a competition, you want to play against the best teams and the best players,” he is quoted as saying by The Guardian.

“I don’t care [what he says]. He can say whatever he wants. We just have to be focused on whatever we’re doing. He’s a massive player. I know him a little bit. He’s unbelievable. He took a red card and that’s the way it goes – you have injuries and suspensions.”

While it’s surely too early in the season to suggest that this will be a decisive encounter, if City were to win and open up an 11-point lead over their rivals, it would perhaps be too much ground to make up.

That would be 15 wins in 16 games for Guardiola’s men, as they look in great form this year and are determined to deliver major honours in his second season in charge at the Etihad.
