Arsenal given transfer boost as Real Madrid face major obstacle in proposed swap deal

Arsenal’s rumoured transfer pursuit of Lyon attacking midfielder Nabil Fekir may have been given a small boost by the fact that Real Madrid’s move for him as hit a stumbling block.

The Spanish giants are apparently keen on landing Fekir in a swap deal involving off-form striker Karim Benzema, but he doesn’t want the move to Lyon, according to Don Balon.

The Daily Star reported earlier this season that Arsenal were interested in Fekir and making progress over a move for the France international.

Not much has been heard about the deal since then, but Gunners supporters will only be glad to hear that Real may struggle to push their bid through due to Benzema.

The striker played for Lyon earlier in his career but is currently after a bigger move, according to Don Balon.

Arsenal could certainly do with an attacker of Fekir’s quality amid the Daily Mirror‘s claims that Manchester City and Paris Saint-Germain are chasing contract rebel Alexis Sanchez.

Arsene Wenger’s attack-minded passing game relies on slick technicians like Fekir, who looks an ideal fit for the club based on his form so far this season.

The 24-year-old has 14 goals and four assists in all competitions, so it’s little surprise to see Real apparently showing an interest as well.
