Manchester United star for sale for £35million after falling out with Jose Mourinho

Manchester United attacking midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan is reportedly up for sale for £35million after falling out with manager Jose Mourinho.

The Armenia international has not been involved in the club’s first-team of late and it seems his days at Old Trafford may be numbered.

Inter Milan are said to be interested in a loan swoop for Mkhitaryan but United would rather cash in for around £35m, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, translated by the Mirror.

Despite initially impressing this season, Mkhitaryan has the habit of disappearing at important moments and that looks to have cost him Mourinho’s trust.

The 28-year-old looks a fine player at his best and one who could be needed in this United side, but it may be that Mourinho has other plans to solve his problems in attack.

The Mirror have previously linked Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil as a target for the Red Devils, and he’s arguably more proven at Premier League level.

The Germany international has also shone under Mourinho when they were together at Real Madrid, and his possible availability on a free transfer next summer will make him a tempting option.

If United could replace Mkhitaryan with Ozil whilst bringing in £35m, that would have to go down as superb business by the club.

The Mirror’s report claims Mkhitaryan and Mourinho rowed over tactics and that seems to have been the nail in the coffin of his Old Trafford career.
