‘Fully expect he’ll be banned for three games’ – Man Utd ace is in trouble insists ex-PL referee

It doesn’t look good for Man Utd’s Ashley Young as he was caught throwing an elbow at Dusan Tadic during the 0-0 draw with Southampton on Saturday.

It was a frustrating evening for Jose Mourinho’s men as they couldn’t find a way to break down the Saints as they dropped more points and now sit in third place in the Premier League table after being leapfrogged by Chelsea.

Coupled with the injury suffered by Romelu Lukaku as he was stretchered off in the first half, it was a night to forget for the Red Devils as they have endured a miserable end to 2017.

2018 could get off to a terrible start for Young though, and that’s because of the incident involving Tadic, as seen in the clip below.

The 32-year-old has been an important piece in the squad this season, earning Mourinho’s trust to be a regular presence in the Man Utd line-up as he has 19 appearances to his name in all competitions.

However, he could be missing for three games now due to a violent conduct charge which former Premier League referee Mark Halsey is convinced is coming his way.

“He clearly catches the Saints midfielder in the midriff, and that is an act of violent conduct. I fully expect Young to be charged today and banned for the next three games,” he told The Sun.

That’s the last thing Mourinho needs at this point in terms of another key absentee, with question marks over how long Lukaku will be out for while Zlatan Ibrahimovic missed the draw with an injury setback too.

As a result, coupled with recent results and growing pressure, the Man Utd boss has a lot to think about in the days ahead to ensure things don’t spiral at Old Trafford and get worse.
