According to the Evening Standard, Bayern boss Pep Guardiola is a big fan of Ozil and believes Arsenal could consider selling him if his inconsistent form continues.

The German international has been played out of position in recent weeks but scored one goal and set up another in the Gunners convincing victory over Aston Villa last week.

However, Arsene Wenger has admitted Ozil may have to continue operating in different roles with Alexis Sanchez, Jack Wilshere and Aaron Ramsey also capable of playing in the No.10 role.

Discussing Ozil's performance last week, Wenger told Arsenal.com: “He played very well and had a good understanding with Danny Welbeck.

“It was a good partnership because they gave each other balls to score.

“It is tempting to keep Ozil in that central role but I maintain again that he will play where he is needed for the balance of the team and that can change game by game.”

The former Real Madrid star turned on his critics following his star showing against Villa.

He said: "I don't play to prove anything to anybody, I play for Arsenal. I have the feeling that I am criticised more than other players.

"That happened to me in the Bundesliga and also at Real Madrid.

"We have only just started the season, we have new players in key positions. Our collective game can't just work well from one day to the next.

"Ten weeks ago I was named in the English team of the season [via an internet poll on the Premier League website]. I was world champion then. But after a few games everything is called into question again. It is strange but I know what I can offer."
