Wenger signed right-back Chambers from Southampton for £16m in July but plans to use the teenager in a host of positions for the Gunners

After a run at centre-back, Chambers has filled in at right-back for the injured Mathieu Debuchy and the French boss admits he would use the 19-year-old in midfield on Wednesday against Galatasaray but a lack of defensive options are likely to hamper his plans.

“He has been remarkable in every position,” Wenger said. “He has an unbelievable engine. He goes and goes. It’s not often that you see that quality.

“His yellow card was very harsh and the one against Villa was very harsh as well. I’ve told him to be keen and committed and I think he had a good game overall.

“I’d consider playing him in midfield but I don’t know about Wednesday [against Galatasaray] because I only have four defenders at the moment.”

Midfielders Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere and Mikel Arteta are all likely to miss the Champions League tie against the Turkish side.
