The Germany international has been frozen out of Wenger's starting XIs so far this season, such is the wealth of attacking options at the Gunners' disposal.

Despite being overlooked on the domestic front, Podolski made an excellent impression when he helped himself to a double in Arsenal's 4-1 win over Galatasaray in the Champions League in midweek.

Although Podolski is behind the likes of Danny Welbeck, Olivier Giroud and Alexis Sanchez in the pecking order at the Emirates, Wenger has indicated Podolski will get more opportunities in the first team soon.

"He's getting back to form and there's a lot of competition up front," Wenger said.

"While there have been injuries in midfield and in defence, I have a lot of players available so I can rotate a little bit.

"He will get his opportunities."

Wenger also expressed his sympathy for Podolski over his lack of regular first team action.

He added: "There are of course frustrations from the players who are top quality and don't get much of a look in.

"But that is part and parcel of the job."

It remains to be seen whether or not Podolski will start against Newcastle tomorrow (5:30pm).
