Arsene Wenger isn't fussed about the Emirates Stadium being renamed after him

Wenger was lambasted by the Gunners fans after their 3-2 defeat away to Stoke last Saturday, which left his side four points off the top four spots.

Despite the wave of criticism Wenger has faced this season, his Newcastle counterpart Alan Pardew called for the Gunners to rename the Emirates after the Frenchman when he said: "That stadium should be named after him.

"The job he did in that move across, when they had all that debt and he had to be very careful with the transfer budget, it was a miracle that he kept them in the Champions League.

"Everyone at Arsenal knows that he has done a magnificent job.

"But all of us managers are on a six-game, seven-game period with the media and social media, we have to accept that."

Wenger has been in charge of the Gunners for over 18 years and has enjoyed a vast amount of success during his long tenure.

I don't want anything. I haven't demanded anything from Arsenal

But he has stressed that his main priority is doing well at Arsenal, rather than concerning himself with whether the Emirates will be renamed after him once he leaves.

"It comes from inside myself. I want to retire knowing that I gave everything to the club," Wenger said.

"I don't want anything. I haven't demanded anything from Arsenal."

Wenger, whose side face Newcastle tomorrow (5:30pm), was pleased with the compliments Pardew showered upon him.

He added: "I'm very thankful of the compliments that have come my way.

"I just want to do well in my job which is what I try to do."
