Arsene Wenger reveals burnout fear for Calum Chambers

ARSENAL boss Arsene Wenger has conceded he is worried he has overplayed Calum Chambers.

Calum Chambers Player Profile

The 19-year-old has been a near permanent fixture for the Gunners this term, making 21 starts in all competitions.

Wenger has been forced to make Chambers a regular starter, which has been due to the injury crisis that has hit his side.

And the French tactician is of the belief that Chambers needs to be given a 'rest'.

"For a 19-year-old, he has played too many games," said Wenger.

Calum Chambers has been a mainstay for Arsenal this term

"They all hit the wall after 15 to 17 games. You have to give them a breather, let them refresh and get them back again.

"To have that responsibility in every single game is a lot for a player of that age."

It remains to be seen whether Chambers will get a well-deserved rest when Arsenal host QPR on Boxing Day (5:30pm).
