Gunners boss Arsene Wenger offered Campbell to Villarreal for the rest of the season as part of the deal after triggering Paulista's reported £13.5m release clause.
And the 24-year-old Paulista - also a target for Manchester United - looks set to complete his move to the Emirates as Campbell, 22, confirms his temorary deal to the La Liga outfit.
The Costa Rica international has struggled for game time at Arsenal this term, with recent reports also linking Liverpool with a loan for his services.

“Playing at Villarreal for the rest of the season means a lot to me,” Campbell said. “I’m very happy for this opportunity.
“They have a defined way of playing and it will be a pleasure as they are a great team that is well placed in the table. They have a style of play that will suit me.
“I hope I can settle in as quickly as possible and I am able to prove my worth. I can only say I’ll give 200 per cent in an attempt to win over the fans. I can do it through hard work and that is my intention.”
