CONFIRMED: Germany winger Patrick Herrmann REJECTS Arsenal and Man Utd with new deal

PATRICK HERRMANN has signed an extension at Borussia Monchengladbach, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2019.

The 24-year-old has had a fine season so far, scoring eight goals and setting up another two with Gladbach in third place behind leaders Bayern Munich and Wolfsburg.

The Germany international's form has attracted the likes of Premier League heavyweights Arsenal and Manchester United, who were expected to activate his £14.5m buy-out clause in the summer.

However, Herrmann has instead committed his future to the Foals, where he hopes to achieve his has Champions League ambition.

"I feel at home here," he said. "These are conditions for me to continue down this successful path that should also again lead to the national team.

"But with Borussia I also have goals. 

"The Europa League matches this season wet my appetite for more. I want to be successful with the club both nationally and internationally."

Gladbach's sporting director Max Eberl said on the deal: "We're delighted that we've been able to tie Patrick down here and that he wants to continue with us along the successful path we're following. 

"Patrick has developed from a youth player to a Bundesliga player with us and we're pleased that he wants to take the next step in his career here."
