Arsene and I are NOT rivals - Jose Mourinho on his relationship with Wenger

JOSE MOURINHO says there is no rivalry between him and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

Arsenal v Chelsea - Premier League Preview

The pair clashed at Stamford Bridge earlier this season in a fiery 2-0 victory for Mourinho’s side Chelsea.

Wenger has failed to win any of the 12 games he overseen against the Portuguese and a defeat on Sunday would see Chelsea stretch their Premier League lead to 13 points.

And Mourinho insists that, while Wenger manages a rival team, he has no problem with the man himself.

“For me he’s not my rival, I don’t feel that,” Mourinho said.

“He’s the manager of a big club in the same city where I work and I live.

“It’s a big club with the same objectives that we have in the competitions we play.

“Because of that there obviously there’s a bit of rivalry but for me it’s no different from when I was at Inter with the Milan manager, or at Real Madrid and the Atletico manager or at Porto with the Benfica manager.”

On his record over Wenger, he said: “I’m not proud.

“For me achievement is to win tomorrow, it’s not the other 12 matches that we’ve played against Arsenal.

“I don’t look to this, to numbers, to what I did against this or that manager or club.”
