Manchester United ready to BATTLE Arsenal for Arturo Vidal transfer this summer

MANCHESTER UNITED have still not given up hope of landing Arturo Vidal, despite Arsenal's growing interest.

United have been monitoring Vidal for nearly two years and had hoped to sign him last summer.

However, injury problems and managerial changes at Old Trafford meant it didn't happen.

Arsenal appear to have become favourites to land him this summer with Alexis Sanchez reportedly using his friendship top convince him.

However reports in Italy this morning suggest Louis van Gaal may rekindle United's interest.

The 28-year-old Juventus man is keen to concentrate on this weekend's Champions League final before making a decision on his future.

Vidal is also heading to the Copa America later this summer and will likely need an extended break once it's over.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger admitted he will let Sanchez miss the beginning of next season after playing over 50 times this term.

"We have played 56 games this season so everyone needs a rest and Sánchez going to the Copa América is not ideal," Wenger said.

"It only ends in July so when he returns from that we will let him have four weeks off."

The Copa America final is scheduled for July 4 and with Chile the host nation they will be expected to do well.
