Chelsea Transfer News: Stones blast, Man Utd/Real Madrid interest, Suarez striker plea

EXPRESS SPORT brings you all the latest transfer news from Stamford Bridge.

John Stones - Spotlight on

Jose Mourinho has mocked Everton's complaints over Chelsea's pursuit of John Stones.

The Blues are set to make John Stones the most expensive defender in Britain.

While Chelsea have already had a £20million bid rejected for the Everton ace, the Premier League champions are ready to return with an improved offer worth a reported £34m.

“We are all in a strange world,” Mourinho said. “We think the market is open but it is not open, it is closed.”

“That is the market. You only pay it if you want. If you don’t want to pay it, don’t pay. It’s as simple as that.

“The market has no rules or limits from season to season.”

Chelsea are keen to sign John Stones

New Brentford midfielder Josh McEachran admits Manchester United and Real Madrid showed interest in him as a teenager.

After 15 years at Stamford Bridge, the 22-year-old has moved on and signed a four-year deal at Griffin Park.

However, McEachran admits the European giants did invite him to Spain at one point.

He said: "I was 15 or 16 at the time and Chelsea offered me a very good contract.

"But Real showed interest in me and were going to fly my family out to Spain.

"And when Real Madrid want to sign you then it is very tempting.

"But in the end I chose to stay at Chelsea because they were my team and I had been there since such a young age."

Pedro Player Profile

And Luis Suarez has urged Chelsea target Pedro to stay at Barcelona.

The Spain international striker has been repeated linked with a move away from the Nou Camp.

And Chelsea, along with Liverpool, Arsenal and Manchester United are all said to be monitoring his situation.

But former Liverpool star Suarez is keen for the 27-year-old to stay in Spain.

“Pedro’s thing is an individual decision,” Suarez told Marca. “He’s had many years at the club, he has won many titles and his decision will be respected.

“But as a team-mate, obviously, I want Pedro to stay because of the importance that he has on a group level.”
