Jose Mourinho has claimed he does not need to sign any more signings.

Chelsea had a bid of around £20m rejected by Everton for John Stones and are yet to return with another offer as the Toffees hold out for £34m for the defender.

"We started training six days ago - we did 11 training sessions in six days," he said after the Blues lost 4-2 to New York Red Bulls overnight.

"We don't need other players - we trust these players, these players are good."

Despite the pre-season defeat, Mourinho praised outcast Victor Moses for his performance and hinted he may stay at Stamford Bridge.

Moses impressed on loan at Stoke last season and had been linked with a permanent deal to the Britannia Stadium

"He's strong, he's an experienced guy, he knows the Premier League well, he's fast, he's aggressive," Mourinho said of Moses.

"Ok, he has to learn how to play with us obviously. But I'm happy with him this week, I'm happy with his 45 minutes.

"The next match he'll have 45 more minutes and let's see what happens. Victor has had an evolution in the last couple of years."

Chelsea's hopes of signing Baba Rahman to replace Filipe Luis have suffered a hitch.

Luis is on the verge of rejoining Atletico Madrid after an underwhelming season with the Blues where he failed to command a regular starting spot.

Augsburg chairman Jonas Hoffman told German tabloid Bild: "We do not need the Baba millions.

"We have a good, solid team here.

"I am very optimistic that Baba will continue his great performances with us. He's made a very good impression at our recent training camp.

"Why keep Baba? I am an Augsburg fan. To me, it's more important that I spend the evening watching Augsburg win with a beer in my hand than when we have more money in the bank account.

"There's no need to even talk about an offer under €20m (£14m), as I've previously stated."
