The Gunners have been in the market for new attacking players but have so far seen their efforts rebuffed.

Arsenal triggered Jamie Vardy's release clause but the Leicester striker snubbed them in order to sign a new deal with the Premier League champions.

It was then revealed this week that a £29.3million bid for Alexandre Lacazette was rejected by Lyon, who are reluctant to sell the French star.

With Danny Welbeck out until 2017 with injury and Olivier Giroud on holiday following Euro 2016, Arsenal face playing Liverpool in the season opener with just Theo Walcott and Chuba Akpom as their recognised forwards.

And Wenger has made clear he wants to make additions to his forward line.

“I have, at the moment, not too many attacking options of experienced players,” said Wenger.

“Let’s not forget that we still have a few players at home and a few players who didn’t play today like [Santi Cazorla]. And of course we have [Mesut Ozil] and [Aaron Ramsey] at home. And [Olivier Giroud] is not here.

“So we have options, but we still look outside to find one more.”
