It was revealed this week the France striker had been the subject of a £29.3million bid from Arsenal.

The offer was rejected by Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas but the Gunners are expected to return with an increased figure.

Earlier today, Arsene Wenger has made clear his intention to sign an experienced forward.

“I have, at the moment, not too many attacking options of experienced players,” said Wenger.

“Let’s not forget that we still have a few players at home and a few players who didn’t play today like [Santi Cazorla]. And of course we have [Mesut Ozil] and [Aaron Ramsey] at home. And [Olivier Giroud] is not here.

“So we have options, but we still look outside to find one more.”

But judging by Genesio's latest comments, Wenger faces a battle to convince Lyon to sell Lacazette.

He said: “I have been reassured yet again by my President that there will be no Alexandre Lacazette departure.

"Alexandre Lacazette will play in Paris this season. But with Lyon, at the Parc des Princes.”
